About Artistic Memorials

Jeff Pettit, is the "Cave Man" you see on the home page. He claims to have "stone dust in his blood". He is a first-generation memorialist, having started in the monument business in 1983. He worked for another area monument company for 18 years before starting his own company in 2002. Since starting Artistic Memorials (in Perrysburg), Jeff has become a Monument Builders of America Design Course Graduate as well as earning the Certified Memorialist designation, the highest honor in the memorial stone industry. He is one of only about 110 Certified Memorialists in the United States & Canada. He is a member of the Monument Builders of America, as well as being a board member of the Monument Builders of Ohio for several years. In 2013, Jeff expanded his business by opening a branch location in Northwood, Ohio. This location will serve the Genoa, Oak Harbor, Lake Twp. & the surrounding rural communities.

Jeff is a lifelong Lake Township resident, having graduated from the Lake/Penta school district.

Jeff is also active in the Perrysburg Kiwanis, as well as a mobile meals volunteer for the Perrysburg Senior Center. Other memberships include the Perrysburg & Maumee Chamber of Commerce.

My greatest satisfaction is helping someone design their memorial to honor their loved ones. With so many things in today's society "throw away", the product I deliver to honor that person will be there hundreds of years later for our ancestors to enjoy.  You can't say that about too many products in todays world.  At Artistic Memorials, "We Bring Granite to Life".

We work with all cemeteries providing:

tombstone - flat grass markers
Flat or bevel headstones

The flat memorials are typically flush with ground. These are most commonly rectangular shaped. The bevel type is typically 2" higher in the back which gives it a slight slope to the front. These would placed above ground on a footer. The flat & bevel type are harder to spot from a distance.

tombstone - slants
Slants

While not tall enough to be considered an upright monument, slants stand out in a cemetery because the granite is cut at a steep angle. You can also put a base under these.

grave stone - monument
Monuments

These are the most common type of memorial you will find at the cemetery. They have a top piece called a "die or tablet" and a bottom piece called a base. They come in many sizes & shapes and can be sized to accommodate one to four graves.

bronze plaque grave marker
Bronze Plaques

Some cemeteries will only allow bronze plaques. These are also flush to the ground & come in various sizes. You most commonly see these marking the graves of military veterans. You are somewhat limited on the artwork & design for bronze plaques.

Available in color or black & white, these come in many sizes & shapes ranging from ovals, rectangle or heart shaped.

estate monument
Family Estate Memorials

This type of memorial typically would be a larger stone with just your last name on it. You normally would need to purchase a minimum of 4 or more graves to accommodate this style. Then surrounding your memorial, you would have individual headstones for each family member.

Mausoleum in cemetery
Mausoleums & Columnbariums

Mausoleums are above ground free standing granite structures that hold the caskets of loved ones. They can be as small as for one person or to hold several family members. Columnbariums are similar but they hold the cremated remains of your loved ones. They also can accommodate from 1-2 urns up to several from the same family.

adding letters to grave marker
Cemetery Lettering

This is typically used to add a date of death to an existing monument at the cemetery. Our craftsman will be able to match your existing lettering to add a death date to an existing stone at the cemetery. We also can add additional items such as wedding dates, family names or even artwork.
